What Is Frequency?

Everything in the universe vibrates at a certain frequency,  from our cells and organs to plants, crystals, and essential oils. Frequency is measured in megahertz (MHz), and each oil, plant, or even emotional state has a unique vibrational signature.

When our personal frequency is high, we often feel vibrant, balanced, joyful, and more spiritually connected. When our frequency is low, we may experience fatigue, stress, or imbalance. Using essential oils is one way to help raise and restore frequency, supporting the body, mind, and spirit.

The Frequency of Essential Oils

Essential oils are among the highest-frequency substances found in nature. Their concentrated life force carries the vibrational energy of the plant from which they were distilled.

Below are some commonly referenced essential oil frequencies, as charted by researchers in vibrational aromatherapy:

Essential Oil Frequency (MHz) Properties
Rose (Rosa damascena) 320 MHz Highest known oil frequency; associated with love, compassion, and spiritual connection
Helichrysum (Helichrysum italicum) 181 MHz Supports regeneration, emotional healing, and resilience
Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) 118 MHz Balancing, calming, and harmonizing
Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha) 105 MHz Grounding, spiritual, protective
Frankincense (Boswellia carterii) 147 MHz Elevates meditation, prayer, and connection to the divine
Sandalwood (Santalum album) 96 MHz Promotes stillness, grounding, and clarity
Peppermint (Mentha piperita) 78 MHz Uplifting, stimulating, and invigorating
Basil (Ocimum basilicum) 52 MHz Physical support, energizing, cleansing

According to frequency researchers, a healthy human body resonates between 62–68 MHz. When frequency drops below this, the body may be more susceptible to imbalance. Essential oils can help restore harmony by raising and stabilizing personal frequency.

How Aromatherapy Assists in Raising Frequency

  1. Direct Inhalation
Smelling essential oils allows their vibrational energy to enter through the olfactory system, directly influencing the limbic brain — the center for emotion, memory, and mood.
  2. Diffusion
Creating an aromatic atmosphere in your space fills the environment with high-vibrational energy, helping to shift mood and create harmony.
  3. Topical Application
Diluted essential oils applied to the skin allow their frequency to interact with the body’s own energetic field. Common application points include wrists, temples, heart center, and soles of the feet.
  4. Meditation & Ritual Use
Oils like frankincense, sandalwood, and rose are especially supportive during meditation or prayer, as their high frequency aligns the mind and spirit for deeper connection.

Scientific Support for Frequency and Essential Oils

Modern research is demonstrating measurable effects of essential oils on human energy, mood, and states of consciousness. Some key studies include:

  • Lavender and Sleep Quality: Inhaling lavender  (Lavandula angustifolia)  increased deep sleep brainwaves and improved overall sleep quality (Goel et al.).
  • Peppermint and EEG Activity: Peppermint (Mentha piperita) oil inhalation enhanced alpha brainwave activity, supporting alert relaxation (Kim et al.).
  • Rose and Stress Reduction: Rose (Rosa damascena) essential oil inhalation lowered autonomic arousal, decreasing breathing rate, blood pressure, and increasing feelings of calm and relaxation (Hongratanaworakit).
  • Aroma Oils and Relaxation: Inhaling oils like lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), rose (Rosa damascena), jasmine (Jasminum grandiflorum), and clary sage (Salvia sclarea) induced EEG changes associated with comfort and reduced stress markers (Choi, Wu, and Park).

Raising your frequency with intention

To get the most benefit, choose oils that resonate with your intention:

   For emotional uplift:

  • Rose (Rosa damascena)
  • Neroli (Citrus aurantium var. amara)
  • Bergamot (Citrus bergamia)

   For grounding:

  • Sandalwood (Santalum album)
  • Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha)
  • Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin)

   For clarity & focus:

  • Peppermint (Mentha piperita)
  • Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)
  • Basil (Ocimum basilicum)

   For meditation:

  • Frankincense (Boswellia carterii)
  • Cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica

Using oils with mindful breathing, affirmations, meditation, or prayer amplifies their effect, aligning your energy with their natural vibration. Essential oils are more than just beautiful aromas, they are vibrational allies that can help raise your frequency, restore balance, and connect body, mind, and spirit. By incorporating them into your daily life with intention, you can create a higher state of harmony and well-being.
